«CONSTELLATIONS»

With “Constellations”, Andrea Heller perfectly combines her artistic interests with the Edition 1+1 project.

Her art often features crystalline objects and landscapes which “oscillate between the dimensions”, seeming “simultaneously diffuse and hard, appealing and unnerving”. “Everywhere we find traces of associations, the beginnings of stories where the narrative is incomplete but the artistic form is followed through to the end.” These qualities also appear in “Constellations”.

“With “Constellations” I directly address the connection that will be created between my drawing and your unique contribution.”

The crystalline subject is painted in ink and water. While working on it, she deliberately allowed little drops to fall on the picture. The drops indicate the genesis of the work and will produce the actual picture when you join the dots as you wish. Just as astronomers divide the visible stars into constellations, here, too, a kind of map of the stars is created.

In this way, the artist has grasped and developed the basic concept behind the Edition 1+1 project, to create a work of art in a collaborative process. The main focus is on taking a combined approach and having fun. As a result of the many connecting lines, the crystal that is recognisable at first sight is catapulted into a different dimension. Its hard, translucent surface is lost in nebulous material, and YOUR constellation becomes visible.
